β-Cyclodextrin (β-CD) and its derivatives have become the subject of extensive research by researchers in the fields of drug modification, molecular recognition, chiral separation, and environmental protection due to their unique structure and properties. β-Cyclodextrin looks like a "cone" with a hydrophobic cavity and a hydrophilic surface. The introduction of these groups generally does not affect the capacity of the central cavity to accommodate guest molecules, but improves certain physical and chemical properties and inclusion capabilities of CD. At present, the main applications of cyclodextrin derivatives are divided into three categories: hydrophilic, hydrophobic and ionic. Hydrophilic derivatization mainly includes methyl cyclodextrin, hydroxyethyl cyclodextrin, hydroxypropyl cyclodextrin, etc., which have greater water solubility in water. Among them, the most studied derivatives are β-cyclodextrin, especially water-soluble β-cyclodextrin derivatives such as methyl-β-cyclodextrin, hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin, and sulfobutyl-β-cyclodextrin and so on.
