Β-Cyclodextrin Gelatin Methacryloyl Microneedles For The Transportation Of Water-Insoluble Drugs

Transdermal administration has more advantages than nonphilic route, such as bypassing the first pass of metabolism and convenient administration. However, mammalian skin acts as a protective layer of the external environment and a basic barrier for transdermal drug delivery. A variety of strategies have been developed to physically overcome this obstacle, including percutaneous microneedle (MN) array patches that can penetrate the stratum corneum, which can greatly enhance drug delivery throughout the body, while reducing pain and improving patient compliance.

Biodegradable Mn array patches were prepared from gelatin methacryloyl and β - cyclodextrin (gelma --CD). Curcumin is an unstable and water-insoluble anticancer drug. When loaded as a model drug, its stability and solubility are improved due to the formation of inclusion complex. The anticancer effect of curcumin was observed in a three-dimensional B16F10 melanoma model. Compared with the control group, gelma--CD / cur Mn had higher curative effect. The biocompatibility of ge-lmn-120 patch in vivo was also confirmed.
