Name: 2,6-di-O-methyl-β-Cyclodextrin

Application: It is widely used in pharmaceuticals, food, cosmetics, textiles and other industries.

Advantages: Compared with other cyclodextrin properties, 2,6-di-O-methyl-β-Cyclodextrin has a particularly strong ability to incorporate oil-soluble molecules.

Combination taboo: the presence of cyclodextrin in aqueous solution may lead to a reduced activity of some antibacterial preservatives.

Source and Preparation:

Preparation of 2,6-di-O-methyl-β-Cyclodextrin was synthesized using dimethyl sulfate as an alkylation reagent.Add 2g of sodium hydroxide and 30mL of deionized water to the triangular vial, add another 10g of times cyclodextrin and dissolve.

5mL of dimethyl sulfate was slowly added at room temperature and stirred. The heat reaction was added in about 60℃ water bath for 8h. After the reaction, cooled to neutral with dilute hydrochloric acid, diluted in appropriate water, and then remove the anion and cation from the solution with ion exchange resin (repeated 2~3 times).The collection solution was distilled under reduced pressure, concentrated to syrup, and slowly dropped into 40mL acetone, where the product was dispersed into a powder solid, acetone was filtered and the product was dried by vacuum.
